Year 2 Hour of Code 2019
The Hour of Code was a huge hit in Year 2. We learnt about what coding an discussed the language of computer science - algorithm, debug, sequence. We then explored some different coding apps - Box Island, Alex and Lego Fix the Factory. Download at home and have a go.
Monty Dogge story time
Year 2 enjoyed meeting Monty again and listening to the story of Monty and friends save Christmas. The children then enjoyed a Q&A and learning more about Monty.
Digital Art
In Computing we learnt how to turn our drawings into digital art using the app Sketchbook. We then app smashed and added our digital drawings to Seesaw so our parents could see them. This is part of our Story Land unit of work where we will write, illustrate and record our own stories.
Maths - 2 Times Tables
Year 2 are learning how to multiply and working on their two times tables. We worked practically to answer questions by putting the counters into equal groups.
Bridge building and making dens in PE
Year 2 are loving our new outdoor and adventurous activities in PE. Co-operation, teamwork and concentration have been needed as we enjoyed den making and building a bridge strong enough to hold a bucket.
Mile a Day

Year 2 learnt all about the importance of rationing during World War 2. They used different sources to answer questions and found out about the different foods and other items that were rationed.
Making Rock Buns
Today we looked at another aspect of the war effort at home and learnt about rationing. We then followed a WW2 recipe to make rock buns using some items that were rationed during the war.

Mapping the route to the park
Year 2 revisited their walk to the park by looking at the route on Google Maps. We learnt about compass directions and found out we walked south. We then drew a map of the route using some map symbols.
