Year Five learn about reproduction in mammals
Year Five have been learning about mammals, and how mammals, even though they belong to the same class, may have differing lifecycles and differing stages within them.
Year 5 - Art - Creating Land Art
Year 5 #embraced working in our school environment to create their own land art, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. Collecting moss, leaves or sticks, our imaginations ran wild leading to some very exciting land art pieces.
Year Five Plan Their Writing
Year Five worked super hard today - planning their independent writing on The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
Year 5 - Art - Tonal Leaf Drawings
Year 5 have been #evolving their drawings skills, by upleveling their tonal drawings skills. We looked at the values we can get from our drawings pencils by applying different types of pressure. When then had a go at transferring our skills to transform our leaf line drawings.
Y5 Multiplication
Year Five have made huge progress in multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 this week! We really enjoyed our group work and working collaboratively! #enjoy #wemakethedifference
Year Five Cube Numbers
Year Five smashed their first Maths lessons of spring term - focusing on Square and Cube numbers. We got our hands on some multi-link cubes and investigated how cube numbers are formed. Great times tables knowledge came in handy, too! Good work, Year Five.
Y5 Move Well, Feel Good!
Despite the winter conditions, Year Five enjoyed their latest workout with Edge Hill University, working on the Move Well Feel Good project. Balancing, aiming, throwing, catching and sprinting skills all on display.
Year Five History - The Danelaw Agreement
Year Five have enjoyed learning about the Anglo-Saxon and Viking struggle for the Kingdom of Britain, and have learned about The Danelaw Agreement between King Guthrum and King Alfred the Great. Super-interesting history work about our country!
Year Five - History
Year Five have been learning all about the ancient city of York, or 'Jorvik' as the Vikings called it. We learnt about the legacy the Vikings left behind and why York has been a significant stronghold even since the Roman age.
PE with Mr Edwards
Year Five loved having Mr Edwards back in to do some bench ball skills in the hall!
Y5 Anti-bullying
Y5 have had a lovely morning discussing how to 'Reach Out' as part of Anti-bullying week. We have discussed what bullying can look like and how we can identify when bullying occurs.
We even took part in the BBC Teach live lesson for Anti-bullying Week.
Y5 Forest School Session
Year 5 had a lovely time out in our forest school area, with Miss Hanrahan. We talked about rationing and about community spirit, whilst huddled together in the lovely November weather! We even had a cheeky jam scone in true Keep Calm and Carry On spirit.
