Class of 2024

In science we have been exploring magnets, we tested to see if all magnets have the same strength. We used paper clips to see how many each magnet could hold to make a chain. We also got a little excited trying to make a paper clip hover in the air!

Year 3 joined a live stream to discuss recycling old electrical items. Did you know that 75% of all materials  in old electrical items can be recycled?! Have a look around your home to see if you have anything that can be recycled, instead of being thrown away. 

We have been researching a chosen house team famous person to write a biography about. 

Year 3 have been exploring magnets in science and sorting materials into magnetic and non magnetic.

Today, Year 3 joined an expert historian on a WW1 Remembrance webinar, we observed two minutes silence to show our respects and also enjoyed watching and listening to the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.  A lovely way to remember those that lost their lives for us. 

Year 3 had a brilliant time taking part in outdoor learning during WW2 Week. They worked in teams to cross no mans landing, dodging the barbed wire and land mines, they even had to bandage a fallen comrade and guide them back to safety!

Year 3 visited our lovely Victory Garden. We read the messages we had written to the soldiers, we laid our beautiful class wreath near the cenotaph and took a minute reflection time to think about those that lost their lives during WW2.

Year 3 imagined they were soldiers during D-Day, landing on one of the 5 beaches of Normandy! They went on to write a diary entry as a soldier and used their senses to write ideas of what they may have seen, tasted, smelt, heard and felt. Great work Year 3. 

Year 3 enjoyed listening to World War sounds and songs. We practised a short song, Run Rabbit, Run. A great, fun lesson for us all. 

In Year 3 our remembrance week focus is D Day, we have enjoyed learning about it over the past two days.  Year 3 have been very inquisitive and intrigued about the Battle of Normandy.  So far we have read about D Day and answered questions, ordered and described the events of D Day, discussed the…

Year 3 have enjoyed finding out about the different types of artillery and aviation used during D Day.  They used their artistic skills to draw one of the aircrafts using during the great battle.
