Headteacher's Welcome:

Enjoy, Embrace, Evolve - "We Make the Difference!"

Delph Side is everything a primary school should be; fun, exciting, caring and forward thinking!

My name is Liz Ormerod and I am proud to be the Headteacher of Delph Side Community Primary School.  Having approximately 250 children across our school, we cater for children from the ages of 2 to 11 with a Nursery, Pre School, Key Stage Two SEN Unit (‘The Hangout’) and single form classes from Reception to Year Six,  everyone feels part of our very special school family.

Our teachers are EXCEPTIONAL, providing quality, tailored learning for each and every child, every day.  We are a very strong team, our results are testament to that.

We really do "Make the Difference” every single day and this was made official when we were crowned

'Primary School of the Year' at the Pearson Teaching Awards on the BBC!

We believe that schools are stronger when they work together and that this provides better opportunities for our children.  We love to work with other schools to ensure we are constantly learning from one another to ensure our children continue to receive the best provision and opportunities.

We are proud to be part of a Forward First Schools Direct Teacher Training, in association with Edge Hill University, knowing that we can support the future of teaching – this is an exceptional place to learn, for everyone!

Sport and wellbeing is important to us too.  We have our very own dedicated Sports Coach, an accredited Forest School Leader, and all our children access high quality sport events and competitions to promote a love of sport and a healthy lifestyle.

However, we recognise that sport is a great leveller and success means different things to different people so we are also keen to support inclusive events, we just want our children to be active!

This year, we have opened ‘The Studio’ – our purpose-built classroom for Art and Design Technology.  This is an exceptional facility for our whole community to enjoy - Mums, Dads, Nans, Grandads.......Great Uncle Keith, everyone, and we hold weekly sessions.

Right now, our new addition is being created ‘The Lake’!  We hope this will create a gorgeous nature space for outdoor learning to enhance our Forest School provision.

We also have 'The Hub', a cosy, nurturing space for all, led by our own Family Wellbeing Coordinator and where you will find our school dog, Poppy!

I almost forgot to mention our brilliant Breakfast Club that is totally free and open from 7.45am to ensure our children can start their day in the best possible way!  The children have the opportunity to join in games, meet with friends and grab some brekkie!

After school, we have our 'Learning Zone'.  It is our after-school club which is open to pupils from Delph Side (ages 3 - 11).

Our Governing Body is incredibly supportive in all that we do and visit the school regularly to challenge and support leaders to ensure we maintain high standards and move forward as an organisation.

Our whole school community joins to achieve our simple goal for each and every one of our children to be the best they can be.  We strive daily to achieve this through our values:

“Enjoy, Embrace, Evolve - "We Make the Difference!"

We were last inspected by OFSTED in January 2020 and we were very proud to be graded as ‘Good’ in all areas.

Our door is always open, please call by and meet our wonderful team and have a tour of our fantastic school – it’s a great family, who really do “make the difference”.

Every day is an 'open day', so come down and see the magic for yourself!
