This Autumn term, we have been learning all about animals including humans. The past few weeks we have been focusing on humans and body parts. We have played Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes related games and Fred Talk games to help us discover what we use certain body parts for. For example, touch the body part that you s-m-e-ll with. This week we have conducted a science experiment to help us use our taste buds and think about what we are tasting. We had 3 different coloured yoghurts to try and had to determine which label belonged to each yoghurt. The labels stated ‘strawberry’, ‘blueberry’ and ‘peach’. Many of the children claimed they already knew where each label belonged before tasting. However, Miss Kinsella had played a trick on the children… all the yoghurts were vanilla with added food colouring. Could the children taste anything different between each yoghurt? Our sight often plays tricks on us and when we see certain colours we often associate them with certain foods and tastes. After explaining to the children, we all had a second taste and could not taste any fruity flavours. #enjoy #embrace #evolve #wemakethedifference
