Year 1 have #enjoyed celebrating World Book Day today. We started the day making bookmarks and sharing our favourite stories and cuddly toys.

Delph Side hosted a mystery reader activity. The children had to choose a story book they liked the look of and go to a class in the school to hear it be read. Miss Kinsella chose Ruby's Worry to read aloud. It is a lovely story that talks about how everyone worries and how talking about your worries can help.

After lunch, we designed our own story book front covers taking some inspiration from story books we know and love.

Joe Wicks has written a story book especially for World Book Day called The Burpee Bears. The Burpee Bears love to have fun – and that includes bedtime! From trying to brush their teeth without squirting toothpaste everywhere, to putting on their pyjamas the right way round, there’s certainly a lot keep everyone busy. But the best part of all is settling down together for quiet time before they finally close their eyes. We listened to this story today and made a list of things you might do before you go to bed. We had fun listening to different types of music you might use before you go to bed, before settling listening to peaceful, calming harps being played. We talked about what music might help you get to sleep. You can get this book with your World Book Day voucher.
