Year 2 had the most amazing day at Green Slate Farm, despite the bitterly cold weather. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and were praised for their excellent behaviour.

Morning activities

In the morning we learnt all about the lifecycle of a plant and planted our own seeds. We could choose a runner bean or sunflower. We also explored the different fruit and vegetables growing on the farm. We learnt that we eat different parts of plants and played a game to guess which part of different fruit and vegetables we eat. After lunch we enjoyed some free time.

Afternoon activities

What an action packed afternoon! We were able to show off our teamwork skills as we were challenged to make a sturdy den that would fit all the group in. We then also got to meet lots of animals that lived on the farm and feed them. We were all brave enough to enter the chicken coop that had over 230 chickens! We also got to feed the goats and piglets.
