Reception are continuing to learn all about Chinese New Year and when Chinese families in China, the UK and around the world, get together to celebrate. They discussed the days coming up to New Year where every family buys presents, decorations, food, new clothes and people have their hair cut. This was wonderful for their classroom as they cleaned their classroom from top to bottom, just as people do in preparation for Chinese New Year. They swept out any bad luck from the old year and cleared the way for good luck.
Reception discussed how it made them feel to make these preparations and compared them to preparations they make for their own celebrations.
And finally, Reception discovered which year they were born - the year of the monkey or rooster?
