An action-packed day as Year 3 found out about life in the Stone Age.

A human timeline

The day started by creating human timeline to help us realise just how long ago the Stone Age was and that Pre-History makes up most of our History. We learnt about hunter gatherers and had a look at what they could have found to help them survive.

A Mesolithic Camp

We visited a Mesolithic camp to see how it could be set up, including the different type of shelters that were built. We looked at how they would survive, including different ways to catch fish. We then had a go at building our own shelters.

Stone Age tools

We finished the morning by looking at how Stone Age tools developed during the Stone Age, from the earliest tools in the Palaeolithic period to how tools had changed by the New Stone Age (Neolithic). We got to handle some flint.....a must have material during the Stone Age.
