Over the next few weeks, The Hangout are looking after caterpillars and will be watching how they transform from tiny caterpillars into beautiful butterflies. 
 

In The Hangout we love our weekly sensory sessions. During these sessions we explore different foods with our senses. This week we explored piccalilli, mint sauce, cucumber and pickled onion monster much. 

Children in The Hangout love their weekly PE Plus sessions. During these sessions they develop their fundamental skills. They enjoy improving their jumping, hopping, running and balancing skills.

The Hangout children and staff are happy to be back and into a routine. We have enjoyed getting stuck in the past two days. We have been working hard with reading, handwriting, art, plus lots more, including socialising with our friends. 
 

Our new computing unit is ‘Design.’ Our first task involved designing an animal shelter and our second involved designing a treehouse. Lots of fun was had, the children were very creative in their choice during the design process.

We have been creating digital art pictures using pixels. 

Our focus has been around the story Oliver’s Vegetables. We visited the Concourse and went to the fruit and vegetable shop to buy vegetables. We bought vegetables that appeared in the book and explored them. We used our senses to explore the vegetables and talked about what we like and don’t…

The Hangout have been learning ordinal numbers. We started with running races and ordering people, we then moved onto objects e.g. car races, animals queuing up, etc and ended with ordering events.

Over the past couple of weeks, The Hangout have been enjoying stage 1 and stage 2 of attention autism (bucket time).  Children love these sessions and it is great to see how focused they are.

This week in our computing lesson, we have been creating digital art. We have been learning to change the colour of individual pixels to accurately re-create basic artwork.
