This week, Year Five have been very lucky and had 2 brilliant visitors who have come to speak about their Sikh and Hindi faith. We learnt an awful lot and asked superb questions to learn about new customs, traditions and religious acts of worship.

Y5 have been asking historically relevant questions and investigating Anglo-Saxon settlements, including why settlements were built they way they were.

Year Five kicked off Santa Dash day with a festive spelling Four-in-a-row sessions, before racing outside to dash in Santa rig-outs!

Year Five have been coding in Scratch to produce an interactive maze game. We started by coding our inputs so the gamer can control our character. Some of us chose to work on an iPad - using touch-screen inputs - while others wanted to use Chromebooks and code keyboard inputs.

We have been learning about how many tribes and peoples invaded Britain in the 5th century, and claimed their own territories. We then studied which territories/ kingdoms were claimed based on the names given to them.

This week, Year Five have been joining in with Anti-Bullying week and have taken part in 2 live lessons. 

We have learnt about the difference between 'banter' and bullying, and how we can recognise when we or our friends cross the line.

Year Five had a great time exploring Western Approaches HQ in Liverpool - a TOP SECRET underground headquarters where The Battle of the Atlantic was orchestrated. We visited the radio room, teleprinting room and the war room - where strategic deployment of the Allied forces took place.
