Y1 have worked exceptionally hard this week during their English lessons. They have generated their own ideas, created their own storyboards and they are now in the process of writing their very first story!

Year 1 had a fantastic Geography lesson, we learnt that we live in a town called Skelmersdale which is also in a country called England. The children were fascinated using google maps to locate some familiar features within the town.

With the help of Jigsaw Jack, Year 1 had some fantastic discussions about what bullying is. We spoke about how we do not know if a person is a bully by looking at them as we learnt that bullying is an individual's behaviour. Year 1 then wrote some of their own slogans to add to their gingerbread…

Year 1 have had a fantastic week in Math's learning all about Fact families. The children were amazed to learn the relationships between numbers. We used 10's frame's and counters to support our understanding. 

This week Pre-School have #enjoyed the story Billy Goats Gruff. 

This week in Science, Y1 learnt all about human eyesight. We carried out a practical science experiment which involved throwing a bean bag into a bucket. Y1 had a fantastic Jigsaw lesson this week, we explored eachother’s differences and discussed how important it is for us to be kind to each other.  The children were really excited to learn some new things about their peers. 
 

Year 1 had a fantastic morning with Danny from Curious Critters. The children learnt lots of exciting facts which shocked us all. They then had the opportunity to get up close with these animals and insects! The children were even brave enough to hold some of them. Well done Year 1.

Year 1 are enjoying WW2 week. The children made their own evacuation suit case and compared the difference between the things that the children would have put in them and what children today would pack. They also enjoyed a WW2 workshop to learn all about WW2
