Year 3 enjoyed a fire safety talk this after from Skelmersdale fire service. We learnt about what to do in the event of a fire at home - Get out, Stay out, Call 999. We learnt we needed to know our address and call 999. We also learnt what to do if our clothes caught fire - Stop, Drop and Roll.

We had a lovely afternoon taking inspiration from Monet. The children created their own season drawing and added colour through the use of water paints and fine brush strokes.

It has certainly been an action packed week in Year 3, with so much going on. From exploring pixel art in Computing, light sources in Science and just enjoying time with friends in the winter sun. Roll on next week.

We love computing in year 1! Each week the children develop skills and become more independent. Our new topic is 3D design. This week the children created their own tree houses, ensuring they had key features in it. Mrs Bentham was very impressed!

Year Six had a blast in computing - editing photographs in Pixlr - using a range of tools such as hue, saturation, dehazing, contrast and temperature to alter photographs and achieve new effects.

Year Six have been working hard all week, and playing hard outside too! We've smashed reading in class, in boosting, maths in class and in boosting, and written some lovely descriptive pieces - well done!

Within their Maths provision, Reception have been looking at shapes with 4 straight sides. 

They had different sized squares and rectangles and lots of loose parts to use.  They discussed which shape would hold the most/least loose parts and compared how many different sized loose parts fitted…

In geography we are learning about the United Kingdom. Today we learnt the four countries which make up the United Kingdom and their capital cities! 
We loved trying to find the UK on our blow up globe and in atlases. The children recorded their learning on their own map using a colour code key.

Pre School had so much fun on their return to Woodland Wednesday. They have been learning all about Winter and how animals, particularly birds find it hard to find food. They decided to create some bird feeders to hang on the trees, we may have just added a little bit of mud in there too! #embrace…
